Cenzura Plus has published a call for video materials of CSOs that will be used to improve visibility of CSOs projects implemented in Croatia. Through this call, the aim is to collect information about projects and organizations which have concrete examples of good practice and had strong impact in the community with the implemented projects through media material (video recordings, photos, films, etc). Cenzura Plus will select several projects from Croatian CSOs – and together with their own material and filed work, reportages will be made and included in the weekly TV show ‘’Cenzura’’. On 3 and 4 July in Belgarde, regional consultations and drafting of objectives and strategies of the CPDE cooperation took place. These consultations were organized following Busan’s decision to merge the Open Forum for CSO Development Effectiveness and the Better Aid into CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE). Representatives from 23 European countries, including the Balkans, along with regional and global organizations attended the meeting. After detailed discussions, the participants agreed on key issues and proposed a number of improvements in the CPDE paper. On 30th May, BCSDN presented and discussed for the first time the draft matrix for monitoring of the enabling environment for CSDev in front of various stakeholders from the DG Enlargement, European Parliament, EESC, RCC and CSO from Brussels and the Balkans and Turkey. The video report of the presented work on the matrix and discussion from the audience and stakeholders is now available here. The video has been produced with the support of CenzuraPlus which has also produced a TV show covering this event.

Slovenian Parliament adopted a new Law on the prevention of late payments. As a result of public debate the Law has been amended by changing the ways CSOs are imposed with financial obligations and mandatory costs in situation of set-off, where companies or public institutions are late in paying obligations under contracts to suppliers and contractors, including CSOs. CNVOS intervened on this issue and managed to achieve for the new amendments to be withdrawn. The initiative was successful as the Government adopted the draft law, which was then proposed and adopted in the National Assembly thus re-establishing the previous solution.…

On the 5th July, our network organized the 2nd official Working Group Meeting, which gathered 10 experts from the Western Balkans and Turkey, BCSDN and ECNL. The objective of the Meeting was further develop the Monitoring Matrix for Enabling Environment for Civil Society Development (CSDev). The meeting is part of the project “Cross-Sector Regional Partnership for Enabling Legal Environment for CSDev” supported by USAID and ICNL under the Legal Innovation Fund. The meeting discussed the further steps for the Matrix development, the added value of this initiative, the finalization of the priorities/standards and the development of indicators for the Matrix.…

The Balkan Civil Society Development Network organized a regional workshop “Partners or Foes? Exchange of Good Practices in Monitoring of Government Policies and Processes in Enlargement Countries”, which took place on 4th July in Skopje. The workshop was organized in the framework of EIDHR project ” Government Mirror: Public Participation in Legislation Preparation Procedures” implemented jointly by MCIC- Macedonia, CNVOS-Slovenia and BCSDN.
