On 3 and 4 July in Belgarde, regional consultations and drafting of objectives and strategies of the CPDE cooperation took place. These consultations were organized following Busan’s decision to merge the Open Forum for CSO Development Effectiveness and the Better Aid into CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE). Representatives from 23 European countries, including the Balkans, along with regional and global organizations attended the meeting. After detailed discussions, the participants agreed on key issues and proposed a number of improvements in the CPDE paper. The requirements, identified as necessary for further work, refer to the advocacy work of CPDE, the Istanbul Principles and Key Asks Paper, as well as the structure of the joint body.
At the end of consultations, the group selected Justin Kilcullen as CPDE representative of the European region. The sub-regional representatives (including Balkans) will be selected on sub-regional meetings. BCSDN members from MCIC, Macedonia and CI Serbia, also attended the meeting. The meeting was organized with support of CONCORD, Better Aid, Open Forum for CSO Effectiveness and BCSDN and Civic Initiatives as local partners. For more information please go here.
