MCIC held a national conference “Civil Society on Local Level: Exchange of Experiences” as part of the bi-annual fair of municipalities ZELS Expo (Associations of the units of local self governments of the Republic of Macedonia-ZELS), in the framework of the EIDHR supported project “Civil Dialogue on Local Level”. On the conference, other project activities including the prepared publications – comparative review from five countries, home-country analysis, three strategies, and the consultative processes in the three municipalities in which more than 120 people participated were also presented. Under the coordination of VESTA, an initiative called “Citizens for Europe” was launched in Bosnia and Herzegovina aimed to insure the commitment of the government officials’ made to the citizens. The Macedonian center for international cooperation (MCIC) in cooperation with the Insitute for democracy Macedonia (IDSCS) conducted a new research regarding the name dispute between Macedonia and Greece. The research showed that the citizens in Macedonia continue to be against a change of the name: almost half of the citizens (45.3%) are against any kind of change of the name, 44.6% responded that they do not accept any kind of geographical reference, while 39.6% would not want a change of name even for the cost of stagnation.
