Despite increasing authoritarianism and attacks on women’s rights, Türkiye’s women’s movement has remained one of the strongest social forces in the country. The article explores how women’s organizations have sustained resistance by organizing outside formal political arenas, using street protests, social media, and grassroots education to amplify feminist voices and resist shrinking civic space. Key strategies include intersectional organizing, persistence in the face of repression, and building strong community ties. Civil society actors in the Western Balkans and other regions under similar pressure can draw valuable lessons from Türkiye’s feminist resistance—especially how to hold space, build public support, and remain visible when institutions fail. The movement’s ability to maintain pressure and secure partial victories, even after the government’s withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention, is presented as a case study in civic resilience.
