A recent IRI poll reveals that while a majority in Western Balkan countries would vote for EU membership, significant portions doubt the EU’s sincerity in offering it. In North Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, 68% would vote for EU accession, 79% in Montenegro, 89% in Kosovo, and 92% in Albania. Serbia stands out as more skeptical, with only 40% in favor and 34% against. Despite this, most citizens in the region support a pro-Western foreign policy, with varying degrees of enthusiasm for EU integration. The poll also highlights differing views on foreign countries and leaders, with the United States, Germany, and Turkey generally viewed favorably, while Russia and China hold more sway in Serbia. Regional cooperation initiatives like the Open Balkan Initiative receive mixed support across the region. Read more here.
