The European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) has reviewed draft reports on Serbia and Kosovo, emphasizing the need to relaunch dialogue and advance rule of law reforms. The report on Serbia, led by MEP Tonino Picula, rapporteur for Serbia, acknowledges the country’s formal commitment to EU integration but raises concerns over judicial independence, alignment with EU foreign policy, and limited progress in meeting EU membership benchmarks. It also criticizes Serbian authorities for making unsubstantiated claims about foreign interference in recent protests. The report on Kosovo, presented by the MEP Riho Terras, rapporteur for Kosovo, affirms Kosovo’s EU path and calls for lifting EU measures imposed on the country. It urges Kosovo’s government to engage in the normalization dialogue with Serbia and highlights progress in the justice and security sectors.
