The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) has announced that Civil Society Week 2025 will be held in Brussels from March 17-20, focusing on “Strengthening Cohesion and Participation in Polarised Societies”. The event will address the challenges posed by recent crises, including the pandemic, climate change, rising living costs, and income disparities, which have deepened societal divisions and weakened trust in democratic institutions. The forum will bring together civil society representatives, EU policymakers, national economic and social councils, youth representatives, and journalists. Discussions will focus on the development of a European civil society strategy, participatory approaches to environmental policies, support for CSOs, and the role of the European Citizens’ Initiative in countering polarization. The event will feature the European Citizens’ Initiative Day, the Civil Society Prize award ceremony, and discussions led by the EESC Liaison Group. Read more here.
