The SafeJournalists Network has called for an urgent investigation into death threats against Rami Mislimi, a journalist with Tetova Sot, following his reporting on the President of the Tetovo Municipal Council. According to the Association of Journalists of Macedonia (AJM), Mislimi received phone threats targeting both him and his minor child, demanding the removal of published content, and was later allegedly threatened again in person. The case has been reported to the Ministry of Interior and the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Tetovo, which is investigating it as “Endangering Security” under the Criminal Code. SafeJournalists stressed that attacks and intimidation against journalists undermine media freedom, freedom of expression and the public’s right to information, calling on the authorities to ensure accountability and effective protection for journalists.
