CSOs in North Macedonia are calling on Members of Parliament not to support proposed amendments to the Law on Games of Chance and Entertainment Games, warning that the changes could seriously undermine the financial sustainability of organisations providing essential support to vulnerable communities. Organisations including the Network for Protection against Discrimination, the Gender Equality Platform, and other civic actors stress that removing CSOs, organisations of persons with disabilities, and the Red Cross as designated recipients of these funds would directly affect services such as shelter centers, disability support, and community-based assistance. Rather than excluding civil society from public funding mechanisms, organisations are urging MPs to support reforms that would improve transparency, accountability, and merit-based access to state funding through public calls and independent evaluation procedures.
