The European Commission has released a new package of funding under the Reform and Growth Facility for the Western Balkans, allocating €49 million to Albania, €44.2 million to Montenegro, and €65.7 million to North Macedonia. The disbursement follows the Commission’s positive assessment of reform progress in areas including business competitiveness, innovation, education, and digitalisation. Part of the funding will go directly to state budgets, while the remaining amounts will support infrastructure and development projects through the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF). Planned investments include sustainable transport, clean energy, digital infrastructure, human capital development, and support for innovation ecosystems. The latest disbursement forms part of the EU’s broader Growth Plan aimed at accelerating reforms, economic convergence, and integration of the Western Balkans with the EU. Read more here.
