The European Research Network on Philanthropy (ERNOP) has announced the forthcoming release of Philanthropy in Europe, a comprehensive, cross-national mapping of philanthropic giving across 20 European countries. The study provides the most extensive comparative overview of philanthropy currently available in Europe, revealing that while giving plays a substantial and diverse role in societies, there are significant gaps in how this activity is measured and understood. The publication examines multiple sources of giving, including individual donations, bequests, corporate and foundation philanthropy, and charity lotteries and assesses the quality and comparability of the data across countries. The study will be released to ERNOP members on 3 March and made openly accessible to a wider audience. Its main findings and implications for research, policy, and practice in European philanthropy will also be presented during a public webinar on 24 March. Read more here.
