Civicus gathered insights from 140 grassroots activists as part of the Grassroots Solidarity Revolution. The responses reflect difficulties organizations face in receiving support from allies and donors, and the measures required for their effective work. The majority of responses reveal that resources and opportunities are limited for most grassroots activists – financial resources are essential, but non-financial support is equally vital. The political context is a restraint for these activists and groups, and this must be considered in the strategies and support modalities provided by donors. The results also present it is essential to prioritize the adoption of effective methods alongside financial aid. Hence, some recommendations were made on how donors can become better allies to grassroots activists. Read more here.
