Recalling recent examples of government’s abuse of international recommendations, including the case in which the Directorate for the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing in Serbia investigated 57 organizations, media, and individuals without legal grounds, and state bodies’ campaign to obstruct CSO’s work, in a statement CSOs, among which BCSDN member Civic Initiatives, express their concern about the financial control conducted over the Center for Judicial Research (CEPRIS) on the order of the Prosecutor’s Office. CSOs demanded authorities to urgently stop the CEPRIS pressure and stop all actions endangering the CSOs’ freedoms of association and expression. The statement also requires the records of no CSO irregularities be publicly disclosed by the appropriate bodies that unjustifiably control CSOs, so that CSOs’ reputation could be repaired.
