On May 28-29, BCSDN organized the SLAPPs (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) Multistakeholder Workshop in Tirana, bringing together CSO representatives, activists, journalists, media workers, and legal experts from the Western Balkans and EU. The event focused on addressing SLAPP threats to freedom of expression and public participation, sharing personal experiences, and discussing regional research, legal frameworks, and response strategies. BCSDN Advocacy team presented findings from the first regional research on SLAPPs (to be published soon), while members’ representatives presented the key report’s findings on a national level. Emphasis was placed on legal strategies, documentation, national action, and regional cooperation. Key event takeaways included raising awareness, developing legal frameworks, and ensuring international pressure to combat SLAPPs.
