The Civil Society & Think Tank Forum 2026, held on 5–7 October in Prishtina within the Berlin Process, brought together civil society representatives, experts and policymakers to discuss regional priorities and develop recommendations ahead of the Berlin Process Leaders’ Summit. Organised by Open Society Foundations – Western Balkans in cooperation with regional partners, including Partners Albania, the Forum featured the session “Safeguarding Civic Space and Democracy: From Commitments to Conditionality for a Credible EU Enlargement Process”. Facilitated by BCSDN Board Chair Klotilda Kosta (Partners Albania), the session featured BCSDN Board member Dren Puka (KCSF), alongside regional and European experts. BCSDN Executive Director Anja Bosilkova Antovska also attended the Forum. Discussions emphasised stronger civic space benchmarks, accountability for democratic backsliding, meaningful civil society participation and predictable support for independent organisations. These priorities are reflected in the Forum’s policy recommendations ahead of the Berlin Process Leaders’ Summit. Read more here.
