Short Description: “Solidarity in Action” is a new initiative by the Aspen Institute Germany and its partners, aiming to create a transatlantic platform for 20 young civil society leaders (aged 25-35) from the Western Balkans, the United States, Germany, Italy, and Romania. The project will run from June 2025 to January 2026, involving virtual workshops and an in-person study trip to Albania or North Macedonia, to engage in dialogue, examine regional challenges, and jointly develop consensus-based policy recommendations for decision-makers on threats to peace, democracy, and stability in the Western Balkans and challenges to transatlantic cooperation in the region.
Target Group: Twelve motivated young civil society leaders (ages 25-35) from the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia) with strong communication skills, a proven track record in civil society engagement, and interest in security, peace, democracy, and transatlantic cooperation in the Western Balkans.
Location: Virtual workshops (online) and an in-person study trip to Albania or North Macedonia.
