On 17-20, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is organizing Civil Society Week, bringing together civil society stakeholders across Europe to address polarisation and strengthen democratic engagement. As overlapping crises—from economic downturns to climate change and widening disparities—deepen societal divisions, the urgency to foster cohesion and participation has never been greater. The outcomes of the 2024 elections highlight the need to rebuild trust in democratic institutions and unity in communities. This four-day forum will feature debates, workshops, and expert discussions with EU policymakers, youth representatives, journalists, and civil society actors, including from candidate countries. Key topics include a European Civil Society Strategy, participatory approaches, innovation, funding for CSOs, and the European Citizens’ Initiative. The event will also include the EESC Liaison Group panels, the European Citizens’ Initiative Day, and the Civil Society Prize award ceremony, providing a platform for meaningful dialogue and collaboration.
