The annual Fundamental Rights Report, published by the Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) highlights crises in 2023 that undermined fundamental rights across Europe. It addresses climate change, digitalisation, and rising intolerance, including increased racism and hate crimes following recent global conflicts. The report explores three main issues: the impact of the cost-of-living crisis on poverty, the effects of migration border controls on rights, and the threats to democratic freedoms while emphasizing the need for a balanced approach to tackle these issues while protecting fundamental rights, as well as the EU progress through new policies and legislation. The report also provides FRA opinions on creating a more inclusive Europe and covers all 27 EU Member States plus Albania, North Macedonia, and Serbia.
