The recent Serbian elections underscored severe threats to democracy, characterized by violations of basic human rights and a lack of accountability among public authorities, reflecting a broader erosion of democratic values. In response to these issues, together with Civic Initiatives, on 17 April we hosted an online discussion on electoral integrity in Serbia amidst civic space threats. Participants, including local, regional, and international CSOs, activists, donors, and institutions addressed challenges encountered during elections. The discussion focused on citizen mobilization and advocacy efforts amidst government smear campaigns and stigmatization of CSOs and activists. During the event, potential actions by different actors were discussed and it was also emphasized that CSOs and media should continue to report on irregularities and manipulation in the electoral process to raise awareness and exert pressure on the ruling regime.
