The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is inviting representatives from employers’ organizations, trade unions, and CSOs in EU candidate countries to apply for the role of “enlargement candidate members” (ECMs). This initiative allows for the active involvement of civil society from candidate countries in the EESC’s work as external participants. The ECMs will contribute to drafting selected EESC opinions, attend dedicated enlargement plenary sessions, and receive financial support for related expenses. The selection process considers factors such as organizational participation in national dialogue, adherence to EU values, gender balance, and linguistic abilities. The EESC aims to create a diverse pool of up to 21 members for Ukraine and Turkey and up to 15 members for other candidate countries through this one-year pilot project in 2024.
