From October 30th to November 1st, BCSDN members’ representatives gathered for a productive workshop in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, addressing crucial developments in the civil society enabling environment in Western Balkans and Turkey. The workshop focused on revising the BCSDN Monitoring Matrix Toolkit, with discussions spanning key areas, standards, and indicators. The sessions explored critical regional issues, including restrictive laws in Bosnia and Herzegovina, AML/CTF concerns in Serbia and Kosovo, NPO registration in Albania, CSOs- government collaboration gaps in North Macedonia, and state interference in Turkey. Participants shared challenges and best practices in data collection, analysis, and reporting, and effective advocacy strategies. The workshop showcased BCSDN members’ collective commitment to fostering a more enabling civil society environment, encouraging collaboration and proactive advocacy across the region. Read more here.
