The OECD DAC Civil Society Days 2021 (27 May – 4 June) highlighted the need to increase individual and collective donor efforts to enable civil society’s responses to crises and development needs. It looked for enhanced partnerships to promote sustainable development by respecting, protecting, and promoting civic space; supporting and engaging with civil society; encouraging CSO effectiveness, transparency, and accountability. As a part of the event, on 2 June 2021, DAC organized a technical virtual workshop, ‘Towards building forward better together: finding solutions to enable civil society’. The event exchanged knowledge and encouraged mutual learning among development co-operation stakeholders. It discussed the operational challenges that development co-operation actors commonly face, from engaging with more diverse civil society actors and localizing support to navigating CSO risk management to learn how others have addressed issues and explore possible solutions.
