The political leaders and citizens from the Balkans should also participate in the discussion on the Conference on the Future of Europe on a consultative basis, together with the representative and citizens’ dimensions of the process. The discussion paper emphasizes that even if there is no formal invitation to join the CoFoE process, the Balkan countries should organize themselves at the political and societal levels to follow the Conference, and with associated actions to proceed with its activities. The Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) could help organize and coordinate a network of Balkan politicians appointed by the national governments to be a part of the Conference. At the same time, civil society networks should build on their existing cooperation and search for funds to organize ‘Balkan Citizens’ Consultations’ following the CoFoE process. Read more here.
