An online conference was organized by BCSDN and ECNL on 13 July 2020, its goal being to facilitate a discussion about the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on public participation, also to explore how to promote participatory and multi-stakeholder approaches in the relief of the crisis. The conference aimed to explore the challenges for public participation in the Balkans, to identify what needs to be done to enhance the participation of civil society in the process of responding to the COVID-19 crisis and beyond. Keynote speeches on the event were delivered by: Anna Rurka, President of the Conference of INGOs at CoE, and Paul Maassen, Chief, Country Support at OGP. During the breakout sessions, the participants had a chance to reflect their opinion on the experience, instruments, best practices, and innovative approaches from the global and European level in promoting civil society participation.
