The paper presents an overview of the main ideas, considerations, and examples of public funding for CSOs. It builds on previously conducted studies and analyses by ECNL on the public funding mechanisms in countries of Europe and of the EU. The paper provides an overview of public funding effects on policy development and civil society, existing public funding models, and established good practice principles, examining the planning and programming process and various forms of public funding. The paper analyzes five countries and their public funding models, including a detailed example from each of them, presenting multiple potential mechanisms for allocating funding. Read more here.
