Besides the fact that philanthropic organizations have provided substantial means during a crisis, the pandemic has prompted an increasing public awareness of social inequalities and the dependencies in which philanthropic practice is embedded. Covid-19 reveals continuing tensions in the philanthropic sector on the lack of transparency and accountability worldwide that existed even before the outbreak of the crisis. Against this criticism, resource trust is a fundamental value towards which philanthropies should align their practice. Philanthropy.Insight Assessment Tool (PIAT) relies on trust as a fundamental value of philanthropy and is created to strengthen the value-base of philanthropic organizations. PIAT takes recourse to two primary forms of trust, trust in Intentions and trust in Competence. Commitment, Public Purpose, and Relevance are three criteria of the tool dedicated to reflecting Trusts in Intentions.
