A report prepared by the Pew Research Center and Elon University’s Imagining the Internet Center examines what experts and interested public think about the future of digital spaces their impact on democracy that recently has been raising societal concerns. Most of the experts agree that digital spaces are evolving in ways that are both positive and negative for the societies. However, some expect public online spaces could significantly improve by 2035 if reformers, big tech firms, governments, and activists tackle the problems created by misinformation, disinformation, and toxic discourse. Others, expect continuing troubles as digital tools and forums are used to exploit people’s frailties, stoke their rage and drive them apart. Read more here.
