The analysis based on Reporters Without Borders (RSF) findings reflects that fake websites’ attacks on some local Serbian media contribute to lower media’s trust and revenues. Besides the ongoing online and direct threats from the governing party representatives, the Serbian independent media are also targeted by their digital look-alikes. The report shows that some of the most credible online media in the country, such as Južne Vesti, Ozonpress, and Kolubarske, have been attacked by their “ugly twins”. These websites use the same features as the original ones, plagiarize the media and report the news placed by the ruling party. The trend of striking independent journalists is also evident in Kosovo and North Macedonia. Read more here.
