Over the past few years, the relationship between the Government of Serbia and CSOs had deteriorated due to increased harassment and attacks on CSOs. The European Center for Not for Profit Law (ECNL) supported the establishment of the Council for Cooperation and Civil Society Development in the country, a key body for restarting dialogue between the government and the civil society. In 2022, the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue initiated the Council’s establishment, and with ECNL’s assistance, the Council began functioning in December 2023. ECNL continues to support the implementation of the government’s Strategy for the Creation of an Enabling Environment for Civil Society Development in Serbia. Read more here.
