The Serbian organizations targeted by the Directorate for the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing in the “List” case, and part of the “Three Freedoms” platform, among which BCSDN’s member Civic Initiatives, point out that Serbian authorities are simulating consultation with the civil society in the preparation of National assessments of the vulnerability of the non-profit sector to terrorist financing, and demand the process to be stopped. In mid-June 2021, the Terrorist Financing Risk Assessment Working Group and the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue invited CSOs to complete the Non-Profit Terrorist Financing Vulnerability Assessment Questionnaire. The invitation was sent without a presentation of the purpose of the assessment and the data collection methodology. To make a positive example on this issue from the region, the Serbian CSOs recall on Macedonian case, where the relevant institutions formed a joint group with CSOs to prepare a risk assessment, data collection, and analysis of the process of terrorist financing.
