The European Parliament has adopted a resolution on Serbia, with 461 votes in favor and 52 against, calling for an investigation into the December elections. Expressing serious concern, the EP notes evidence of activities before and during the elections that may have influenced results, particularly in Belgrade. The resolution urges the European Commission to send an expert mission to assess the situation, echoing the approach used in the “Priebe reports” for other countries. It calls for an independent international investigation into electoral irregularities, with possible suspension of EU funding if key recommendations are not implemented. The EP also highlights issues like media pluralism, the role of the President, and the impact of disinformation spread by Russian-sponsored outlets. The resolution condemns attacks on election observers and urges Serbian authorities to ensure their safety. Special recognition is given to the work of domestic observers from CRTA and CeSID.
