BCSDN and the ECNL organized a regional workshop on anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) in Skopje. The workshop brought together participants from civil society organizations, government agencies, and international organizations, with the aim of promoting multi-stakeholder dialogue and cooperation to develop effective policies and regulations that protect civic space while combating illicit financial activities. The participants discussed the challenges and opportunities in the region and shared experiences and best practices in AML/CFT, while highlighting the importance of including civil society organizations in the policymaking process and creating a supportive environment for their engagement in AML/CFT efforts. The workshop concluded that a collaborative approach among different stakeholders, including CSOs, is crucial to achieving sustainable and effective AML/CFT policies in the Balkans. Read more here.
