Between April and June 2025, key developments took place in North Macedonia related to the rule of law and its EU accession process, particularly within the areas of democratic institutions, public administration reform, and Chapter 23 on Judiciary and Fundamental Rights. In April, the Council for Cooperation between the Government and Civil Society held its inaugural session, later adopting a positive opinion in June on the Government’s Draft Strategy for Cooperation with and Development of Civil Society, alongside the 2025–2028 Action Plan. Concerns over institutional integrity emerged when the Criminal Court of Skopje barred the president of the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption from performing work duties due to suspicions of revealing official secrets.
