More than 40 CSOs across the EU and US delivered an urgent message to the European Commission and President Von der Leyen to resist Big Tech’s political pressure and uphold EU sovereignty. The letter calls on the Commission to stand firm against corporate lobbying and Trump administration interference as CEOs of Meta, Apple, and others attempt to undermine the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and Digital Services Act (DSA). For example, Mark Zuckerberg openly strategized with Trump to weaken EU laws, while the Apple CEO Tim Cook sought to evade state aid fines. The letter urges the EU to prioritize bold enforcement to protect democracy, prevent foreign interference, and ensure fair competition. Big Tech is exploiting users, suppressing competition, and shaping political discourse — especially on X and Meta, where algorithmic manipulation threatens democratic debate.
