The International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA) has released a report on the mapping and rapid assessment of national NGO coordination mechanisms in four Eastern European countries – Hungary, Poland, Romania, and the Republic of Moldova. The report aims to identify existing coordination mechanisms for CSOs in these countries, their strengths and weaknesses, and ways to improve their effectiveness. The report finds that while coordination mechanisms are in place, they vary widely in structure, scope, and capacity. The report highlights the need for a more comprehensive and coordinated approach to civil society coordination and recommends the establishment of more robust and inclusive mechanisms that involve all relevant stakeholders. The report also suggests that the EU and international community should support civil society strengthening efforts in these countries, including providing funding, technical assistance, and capacity-building support to improve the effectiveness of civil society coordination mechanisms.
