Istanbul, Turkey – We’re thrilled to share insights from a truly inspiring three-day hope-based communications boot camp held recently in Istanbul, thanks to the generous support of TUSEV and EU TACSO. Representing BCSDN, our Communication and Advocacy Officer, Toshe Zafirov, participated in this impactful event focused on harnessing the power of hope for narrative change.
The boot camp brought together regional civil society leaders to explore communication strategies. Two leading figures in the field, Thomas Coombes from Hope-based Communications and Yana Buhrer Tavanier of Fine Acts, guided the participants.
Participants delved into practical applications of hope-based communication, covering critical areas such as creative campaigning, visual framing, and the strategic shift to value-driven messaging. The sessions provided actionable insights into how to connect with audiences on a deeper, more resonant level.
As Thomas Coombes emphasized during the boot camp, “Hope is the belief that tomorrow can be better if we take action.” This powerful sentiment was echoed by Yana Buhrer Tavanier, who shared how Fine Acts practically applies hope to “show what truly moves people to care.” Their expertise provided invaluable guidance, demonstrating how hope can catalyze meaningful engagement and social impact.
A huge thank you to TÜSEV for hosting this vital event and bringing together such brilliant and insightful speakers. We’re excited to apply these learnings to our future initiatives.
