Complete donor maps for Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia are now available in our Donor Strategies and Practices database, alongside other useful resources such as the links to all existing general donor databases in the region, other analysis and research on the subject. The maps present a first-ever comprehensive overview per country on the level of funding by donor and priorities per sector of support. The on-line maps are no ordinary database or guide to donors, but rather offer a strategic insight on current funding levels and types of support offered by donors in order to influence both donor-exit strategies and instigate government-led efforts towards sustainable civil society development. The maps are a result of joint collaboration with Queen Marry, University of London.
The maps are based on data as reported by donor representatives interviewed or discerned from official information on their websites for the period 2010-2011. The donor maps were developed as part of research which also included a websurvey responded by 48 major donors. Alongside analysis and conclusions, these are both available in the 8th edition Balkan Civic Practices: Donors’ Strategies and Practices in Civil Society Development in the Balkans. Civil Society Lost in Translation?”.
The joint collaboration on mapping out trends will continue in 2012, when the focus will be in analyzing country-by-country situation through field work, collection of best practice to offer country-specific recommendations and provide sustainable channels to follow the trends in the future. We value any comment, suggestion that could help us in our further work so write us at executiveoffice@balkancsd.net.
