At the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, members of the OECD and Development Assistance Committee (DAC) committed to protecting Official Development Assistance (ODA) budgets. While ODA levels went up, the challenge of fulfilling the channeling 0.7 percent of gross national income (GNI) to the countries most in need and the commitments made on the quality of aid persists. OECD Secretary-General emphasized that while the total ODA in 2020 equated to around a mere one percent of the total amount, and countries have mobilized in economic stimulus measures to respond to the Covid-19, greater efforts and strategies are needed in the future to help the most vulnerable people from the developing countries.
