Target Groups: Women, men and LGBTQI+ journalists working full-time or independently as freelancers across text, digital, video or audio journalism. Applicants must be working journalists based in and reporting on communities in ODA-recipient countries, with at least three years of journalism experience. They must be fluent in English, provide three strong work samples, be available for meetings during daytime Eastern Time and have a bank account capable of receiving international transfers. Women, non-binary and trans journalists are particularly encouraged to apply.
Short Description: The Equality Fund Journalism Fellowship supports journalists reporting from their own communities on local responses to global challenges affecting gender equality and social justice. Themes may include climate change, gender-based violence, authoritarianism, anti-rights movements, sexual and reproductive health and rights, economic injustice, war and conflict. Up to five fellows will receive a stipend of CAD 4,000 and up to CAD 500 for reporting expenses, alongside monthly online meetings, journalism and ethics sessions, safety training and one in-person convening with travel expenses covered. Each fellow must produce at least one published story. The use of AI in preparing the proposal or application is prohibited.

Duration: January–September 2027, including six months of programming and three additional months for finalising publication.
