The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) congratulates BiH and its citizens for the decision of the European Council to open accession talks with the country. 110 local CSOs, including BCSDN member Center for Civil Society Promotion (CPCD), believe this is pivotal moment for the country’s political, economic, and social progress. Emphasizing EU accession as a key priority, EESC urges all political actors to engage in constructive dialogue with civil society to deliver the required reforms. They raise concerns over Republika Srpska’s proposed Draft Law on the Special Register and Publicity of Non-Professional Organizations. Adoption of this law risks violating freedom of association and curbing CSOs’ participation in decision-making. EESC urges authorities to prioritize democratization, promote civil society engagement, and ensure a safe and enabling environment.
