On 1-2 June 2021, the Civil Society & Think Tank Forum of the 2021 Berlin Process, initiated by the German government, discussed the scope and the success of the Berlin Process. The forum brought prominent participants and high-level officers, which focused on specific issues, including WB civil society ownership of the process; civil society as the most important regional player; violence against journalists; state capture, emigration, air pollution, etc. The forum concluded with reflections on the policy recommendations drafted by the CSOs and think tanks participants, focused on: the Future of the EU in the WB, the Role of Civil Society in Strengthening Democracy, Countering Disinformation and Strengthening Media Independence, Addressing Legacies of the Past and Regional Confidence Building, Acceptance and Rights of Minorities in the WB, Green Agenda, Enhancing Integrity Compliance in Infrastructure Project.
