As the Western Balkans align their laws with EU standards, the DSA offers a framework to tackle illegal content and protect users. However, challenges exist, including online fraud, weak regulation, and limited platform accountability. The EU must closely oversee the region’s alignment, ensuring that national laws adhere to DSA principles without undermining freedom of expression. Civil society and non-state actors play a vital role in ensuring transparent and effective implementation.
