Civil society organizations from across the Western Balkans formally endorsed a joint declaration, calling for stronger social safeguards within the European Union’s Pact for Growth (part of the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans). The declaration, signed by six organizations, emphasizes that the true success of the plan should not be measured solely by economic outcomes, but also by progress in social inclusion, poverty reduction, the provision of quality social services, and the protection of vulnerable groups. The CSOs initiated a regional effort to strengthen civil society’s capacity to monitor reforms and hold Western Balkan governments accountable for integrating these social priorities into their national reform agendas.
