In a statement CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE) raises concerns over the decline in Official Development Assistance (ODA) and its impact on global development. Responding to the FfD4 Zero Draft, CPDE calls on UN Member States to uphold past ODA commitments, enforce the 0.7% GNI target, and recognize the 7.1 trillion USD shortfall as unmet aid debt. They stress the need to scale up aid, enhance effectiveness, and reinforce democratic ownership through inclusive partnerships, local leadership, and civil society engagement. CPDE also urges the UN to lead in rebalancing power in development decision-making, ensuring enforceable mechanisms that translate commitments into action. With mounting global crises, they warn that without a breakthrough in development finance, the risk of derailing sustainable development goals grows.
