In a blog post, Aida Daguda, the Executive Director of BCSDN member Centre for Civil Society Promotion (CPCD), reflects on some relevant facts about CSOs in the FBiH. It indicates that there is no answer to how many associations and foundations operate in the country, considering that the several registers available to the public present different data. Another problem is that many diverse legal entities (ex. political parties, sports clubs, public institutions, kindergartens, etc.) are also registered as associations. The number of CSOs in BiH is divided by cantons. The article also explains that the NPO property’s high cost is not a realistic picture of the NGO sector situation. Furthermore, the funds spent from the state budget are allocated to sports clubs, television, etc. The funds should be distributed more transparently and proportionally to NPO efforts and improve BiH citizens’ lives.
