In an interview for CIVICUS Lens, Taulant Hoxha, Executive Director of the Kosovar Civil Society Foundation (KCSF), reflects on the critical role of civil society in Kosovo following the February 2025 elections. With Vetëvendosje! winning the most seats but falling short of a majority, Kosovo now faces a period of fragile coalition negotiations and rising political uncertainty. While minority political participation remains uneven, civil society offers a more pluralistic and constructive space. CSOs contributed significantly to the election process through monitoring, voter education, and promoting electoral reforms. They also continue to strengthen local governance and advance Kosovo’s EU integration goals by advocating for implementation of existing civic space protections. To further anchor these efforts, one notable innovation is the KCSF-led Pooled Funding Mechanism, which channels coordinated donor support toward grassroots activism and internal CSO governance.
