Target Group: Local CSOs, groups and social movements working to expand civic and democratic freedoms and promote inclusive democracy in the digital age, particularly actors facing a recent and verifiable civic-space threat or an urgent need to strengthen digital resilience. Priority is given to marginalised and underrepresented actors, including women, youth, grassroots and informal groups and LGBTIQ+ organisations.
Aim: To help civil society actors prevent, mitigate, navigate or respond to imminent civic-space threats through digital resilience measures and technology. The grants are designed as rapid-response support rather than conventional project or core funding.
Countries: Eligible ODA-recipient countries, with priority given to countries where civic space is rated Obstructed or Repressed by the CIVICUS Monitor.
Amount: Up to USD 10,000 for a single organisation and up to USD 20,000 for joint applications by two or more organisations.
Duration: Up to six months.
Deadline: Rolling; applications are accepted throughout the year.
