On 8 April the Coalition Against SLAPPs in Europe (CASE) held its annual in-person strategy meeting in Brussels, bringing together legal experts and civil society organisations from across Europe. The meeting focused on assessing progress in tackling Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPPs) over the past year, setting priorities for 2025, and discussing the implementation of the EU directive and national reforms. Simona Mladenovska, Policy and Advocacy Officer at BCSDN, shared regional insights from the Western Balkans, including the first regional report on SLAPPs From Silence to Strength, while BCSDN`s member Civic Initiatives representative presented SLAPP.rs, a national tool developed to track and support SLAPP cases in Serbia. The meeting also featured the 2025 European SLAPP Contest, which highlighted cases of abusive litigation used to suppress public participation. Read more here.
