The amendment passed with a majority vote, while a separate text defining “nontraditional sexual orientation” was also approved. Critics argue that the new laws are discriminatory, breach human rights, and contradict European standards. Demonstrators in Sofia protested against the changes, claiming they would hinder efforts to combat LGBT harassment and violate basic rights.
