In recent years, BiH authorities, individuals, and media close to the ruling parties intensified their pressures against journalists in the country. The government’s oppression escalated into accusations of media for their “unprofessionalism” and betraying the so-called ethnic entity, and state interests. As a result, freedom of expression and journalists’ reporting are on the margins, and journalists are discouraged from doing their work. BCSDN member the Center for the Promotion of Civil Society (CPCD) strongly condemns the pressures against media and journalists and urges the police and the relevant authorities to provide appropriate protection to journalists and other targeted individuals. Conversely, the authorities’ negative behavior against opposing opinions will continue disrupting the social system, generating many insecurities, and collapsing the civil society. Read more here.
